Universal Pre-K

Registrations for the 2024-2025 school year are now being accepted for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program for families who reside in the district. A registration form and health certificate can be obtained here on our website: New Student Registration Forms, at Apalachin Elementary School, 405 Pennsylvania Avenue, Apalachin, or Owego Elementary School, 2 Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego.

To be eligible for the program, children must live in the district and turn 4 on or before 12/1/24. A child may not ride the bus until their 4th birthday.

UPK sessions are:

Apalachin Elementary – full-day program

Owego Elementary – full-day program

Children will attend the UPK program at the elementary building where they will be attending kindergarten.

Once a child reaches age 4, the district may be able to provide transportation both ways for full-day sessions.

If you are interested in your child being considered for this program, please complete the registration form and required documentation and return it to the building your child will attend. In addition to the registration form, the following is required: a copy of the child’s birth certificate, immunization record (polio, measles, diphtheria, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B), two forms of proof of residency, and the health certificate signed by your child’s physician. You may also complete a UPK registration form at Apalachin Elementary School and Owego Elementary School.

Kindergarten Registration

Registration for the 2024-2025 school year for children attending Kindergarten is now open at Apalachin Elementary School and Owego Elementary School.   A registration form and health certificate can be obtained at the OA website: New Student Registration Forms, at Apalachin Elementary School, 405 Pennsylvania Ave., Apalachin, or Owego Elementary School, 2 Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego.

Children who will be five years old on or before 12/1/24 are eligible to enter Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year. All registered children will be screened in May or June in speech, language, vision, hearing, fine motor, and gross motor skills. This screening is required by the New York State Department of Education and will help us identify your child's particular needs.

Registration before the beginning of school is essential, as it enables the school to estimate the time needed for school readiness screening, classes, and transportation needs. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for school visitation before the opening session in the fall.
